The reason 15 minutes is not enough time for me to meditate: It takes that long for my crazy brain to stop running frantically from one thought to another and actually settle in to the quiet.

First Step To Your True Story

Realize that you tell a limiting story about yourself because it is safe. It is safer to stay small and hidden than to realize your inner nobility and the magnitude of your own beauty. It is easier to focus on what is wrong and hold on to that as who you are.

But it isn’t.

You are worthy of your true story. You are worthy.

Many people are posting about today, the 1st day of the new year, being an opportunity to begin a new book. Today is page 1. So what is the story you wrote today? What did you tell yourself about who you are?

I caught myself a few times repeating old chapters and story lines. It comes so easily to me.

What is also coming a bit easier is recognizing when I do this. It comes easier when I am spending time on my mediation practice. It comes easier when I am caring for my body through right nutrition.It comes easier when I simply focus on breathing and being present. And then I can change the story I am telling…

If you want to tell your true story begin by creating the space in which you can connect to it and allow it to come forth instead of doing things that numb you to it and keep it at bay.

This is my year.

When I think about all of the things I do and have done to maintain the trance and avoid awakening I realize that by letting them go I free up so much time to experience happiness.

When I think about the story I have told myself about myself I realize I have told a very limiting story.

I will tell a different story now.

Because I am beginning to see the repeating patterns of self defeat. I can change the trajectory and create new habits.

I am not setting goals. I am not making a list. I am not committing to resolutions.

I am simply going to tell a different story now.

A true story.
